[The battle against the pandemic will be won with China Tianying]

On 28 July, a confirmed covid-19 case was found in Yangzhou. Vast volumes of pandemic-related medical waste was generated at the nucleic acid testing sites, the isolation sites, hospitals and sealed communities. As the only specialized medical waste disposal company in Yangzhou, Yangzhou Yangying, a secondary subsidiary of China Tianying was overwhelmed.

At the critical moment, the headquarters of China Tianying made a decisive decision and quickly organized personnel, materials and vehicles to assist Yangzhou, providing full support regardless of the cost.

After the notices were issued on 31 July and 3 August, staff from all subsidiaries responded to the call and signed up. The large amount of support allowed Yangying to increase the number of staff from 49 to 115, the average daily handling capacity from 15 to 40 tonnes and the average daily collection and transportation capacity from 20 to over 60 tonnes, ensuring that medical waste in the main city of Yangzhou was treated in a timely manner.

Currently, medical waste from nucleic acid sampling sites, analysis sites and isolation sites are the main sources of new medical waste in Yangzhou. Dr Li Yaojian, a senior executive of China Tianying who is in charge of the medical waste segment, took the initiative to direct the work on the front line in Yangzhou. "To facilitate collection and transportation, we collect at sampling points and then converge the medical waste to centralised points identified by local governments, greatly improving the efficiency of transfer." Li said.

The company has independently developed plasma melting fly ash treatment technology, which can change the molecular structure of toxic and harmful dioxins and heavy metals by treating the fly ash at ultra-high temperature, and then completely harmlessly treat and resourcefully use them. Tianping has two commercialised fly ash melting and medical waste gasification plasma projects, which have been in stable operation for more than 300 days.

At present, China Tianying has more than 50 innovative products and has won many provincial and ministerial honors. At present, it has more than 100 science and technology projects, 544 authorized patents, the first in the industry, and has been awarded as the first "National Intellectual Property Demonstration Enterprise" in the industry. At the same time, Tianying has compiled 18 national/industry/group standards, and the provincial standard DB32/T 3558-2019 "Technical Specification for the Melt Treatment of Fly Ash from Domestic Waste Incineration" has filled the gap in the industry. In 2019, China Tianying started the project "General Technical Specification for Melt Cured Aggregate for Asphalt Pavement" and participated in the preparation of 3 plasma national/industry standards in "Technical Requirements for Solid Waste Vitrification Products".

In addition, with the rise of artificial intelligence technology, China Tianying is also trying to apply it to the fields of intelligent sanitation and resource recycling. In the sanitation field, the low-speed unmanned prototype vehicle developed by China Tianying has been assembled and is currently undergoing navigation algorithm testing. The first batch of prototype chassis and top-assembly structure of the sweeping robot have been completed and test-assembled, followed by the second batch of prototype development and commissioning work. In the field of sorting, the company is committed to combining the technologies of large database, robot body design and AI image recognition technology to develop and produce artificial intelligence robots that can replace manual work in harsh and dangerous environments, as well as sorting robots, in order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of sorting in recycling treatment plants and to free up manpower.

In Vietnam, the construction of the Soc Son waste-to-energy project in Hanoi, Vietnam, invested by China Tingying, is in full swing. With a total investment of over US$350 million, the project will treat 4,000 tonnes of domestic waste per day and generate 75MW of power. The project will change the traditional way of landfill disposal in Vietnam and greatly alleviate the lack of waste treatment capacity in Hanoi. Tianying has made significant progress in market development in countries along the "Belt and Road" initiative, winning successive bids for waste-to-energy projects in Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Hanoi and Tuas in Singapore.
